October 1, 2016 15-year-old Female Drowns in Resort Swimming Pool

A 15-year-old female drowned in a resort swimming pool when she went swimming unattended. No Lifeguard was on duty, but signs clearly indicated such. Her body was found by maintenance personnel while they were walking through the facility. CPR was initiated by resort staff while waiting for EMS response. Rescue equipment, signage, telephone, etc. was all available. All guests of the resort were instructed upon registration that no one was allowed to swim unless attended by another guest. Furthermore, no one under age 16 was allowed to use the swimming pool without an adult supervising them. The girl and her family obviously chose to disregard this rule with tragic results.
