2 people killed when car submerges in golf course lake

Fourth person made it out of car, left others behind, officials say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Two people are dead after a car crashed into a small body of water at a Lauderhill golf course Sunday night.

The car crashed into a pond about 8 p.m. near the Inverrary Country Club at Northwest 44th Street and Inverray Boulevard.

One man was able to get out of the car and call 911.

Three people were trapped in the submerged car when rescuers arrived.

All three people were pulled from the car, but two of them later died.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known, but Lauderhill police Lt. Greg Solowsky said investigators were speaking to the man who called 911.
