Guidlines for Latex and Other Gloves

The concern: The use of latex gloves in health care has risen as workers have become more aware of the need for barrier protection against bloodborne pathogens and universal precautions were adopted. Universal precautions call for the use of gloves to prevent contact with any “bloody body fluids.” Latex gloves have been the most commonly used glove type, partly because latex was regarded as providing better barrier protection than vinyl or other gloves.
