Kennebunk Beach
A comprehensive, fast-paced, practical training session for Fire, Rescue, EMS & Law Enforcement personnel responsible for responding to incidents in the ocean when lifeguards are off-duty. These sessions are designed to provide the critical skills needed to safely and rapidly respond to in-water incidents.
Due to the popularity of this training, two identical sessions will be conducted. This is a non-certificated training program and there is no fee to participate.
Participants must:
- Be competent swimmers,
- Have required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and
- Come prepared to enter the water and fully participate
Practical sessions will include:
- Surf rescue with tethered landline
- Spinal injury management in the surf environment
- Rescue from a jetty
Required PPE:
- Wetsuit or Swiftwater Dry Suit
- Rigid sole footgear
- Gloves
Helmets & Type V Rescue PFDs will be provided; or, participants may bring and use their own.
