When Lifeguards Leave

A comprehensive, fast-paced, practical training session for Fire, Rescue, EMS & Law Enforcement personnel responsible for responding to incidents in the ocean when lifeguards are off-duty. These sessions are designed to provide the critical skills needed to safely and rapidly respond to in-water incidents.

Due to the popularity of this training, two identical sessions will be conducted. This is a non-certificated training program and there is no fee to participate.

Participants must:

  1. Be competent swimmers,
  2. Have required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and
  3. Come prepared to enter the water and fully participate

 

Practical sessions will include:

  • Surf rescue with tethered landline
  • Spinal injury management in the surf environment
  • Rescue from a jetty

 

Required PPE:

  • Wetsuit or Swiftwater Dry Suit
  • Rigid sole footgear
  • Gloves

Helmets & Type V Rescue PFDs will be provided; or, participants may bring and use their own.

This program is sponsored & conducted by Lifesaving Resources – hosted by Kennebunk Fire Rescue.

Join us either day, it is completely free and no registration is required – simply be prepared to begin at Kennebunk Beach by 9 AM!
